i read in the manual and on this forum that the doors are supposed to lock themselves 30 seconds after you get out of the car...i tested this out and they never lock by themselves...i don't have the security system yet but i don't think the manual said you needed it for the doors to lock themselves...what's up with this? should i tell my dealer?

you need to shut the door and put the key in the inigtion in less than 30 seconds and it will automatically lock your door. if you shut your door and just sit there for more than 30 seconds before putting the key in it wont work.

The car only locks itself if you do not enter it within 30 seconds of unlocking it with the button on the key. It does not lock itself after exiting the car and shutting the door unless you hit the button.

This is without the aftermarket security system, the extra alarm may have that feature but i doubt it. - T

from what i understand if you unlock your doors by using the automatic thing on your key and you dont open the doors with in 30 seconds it will relock them. I have personally experienced that. I hit the unlock button and then gabbed away with my cousin and i heard the doors relock themselves. I have never had the door lock me in after starting the car

isnt the door supposed to automatically lock itself when you start driving??? i noticed that the first day i got the car and havent really paid any attention until now, it doesnt lock itself when i start driving anymore.

UNLESS i recall it from the camry they gave me as a rental before i picked up my tC.
