I thought today about removing the lid and I wanted to know if anyone has tried it. It gets kinda anoying to me and I thought about removing it. What ya'll think?

There are screws that hold the door to the mechanism that can be seen once you remove the console. It shouldn't be a big deal to remove it and then reverse the modification if you don't like the results.
