I was just thinking about this this morning: If you put in an aftermarket head unit, 4 channel amp, new speakers, and new speaker wire straight from the amp to the speakers, do you lose the door/light are on/keys are in chime? If one was to do all that I mentioned, how would you retain those sounds? Do they come in from the wiring harness?

No, you do not cut any factory harness, you just run new wires for the speakers. All of that will remain.

"Wow" what? I think it's a valid question. So, is there a small speaker that plays that sound? I know I'm not stupid for thinking it came out the sound system because my last car did that...

Customizing the door ajar chime would be sweet though wouldn't it! But I'm sure it would become just as annoying after a while.
