DVC Subs have just that, two coils around the center mag, each wired individually and setup to fire in a way that they boost one another. A DVC sub acts like 2 single coil subs in the fact that, since each coil is independent, you need whatever RMS wattage for each coil, which means either more amps, or one bigger amp. Advantage being really, raw power in relativley less space. Some DVCs require a slightly larger box than their comparative single coil models, and of course, are heavier.
