I was just wondering...if I were to get pulled over (in california) with illegal parts in my car..what would happen? Would my car get impounded? would i get arrested? lol? or just a fix-it ticket? Does it depend on what you have? What if i had a Turbo kit, illegal intake, illegal exaust..and what not..thanks guys

It all depends on the officer. If they push it hard because you were doing something stupid, they can impound the car, have a BAR smog referee look at it, and require you return it to stock, plus pay a ton of fees and fines.

Or they might do what they did to Robert Graybeal's Supra with the Powerhouse CARB approval pending prototype single turbo. Impound the car indefinitely. That's what the judge said anyway.

The first time you get pulled over you'd get a fix-it ticket that would require you to move all the illegal parts. If you get pulled over a second time and you still have illegal parts your car could be impounded.

What if you arent from Cali. Kind of like if i had NY plates and i had all that stuff done to my car can they still impound my car since it isnt illegal in NY to have stuff like that done to your car? Just a question and wondering cause i might get stationed there one day and i dont want to get rid of my car.

The law is once you enter a state, you are bound by ALL of their laws. That includes emissions laws... now whether or not a officer will do anything to someone out-of-state is beyond me, so you are better off erring on the side of caution there.

Plus, if you stayed on base you'd be fine since California law doesn't hold there. Then again, I'd never break a law (moving violation or any other) on federal property... generally speaking the punishment is more harsh and the patrolling more strict.
