i just got some alpine type s comps installed and they sound like sh*t. i am suspecting hooked them up wrong. i opened up my doors and there is a connector next to the amp that is not used, it has four purple and pink wires...two of them are cut and the other two are used as the input on the crossover. does anyone know if this is the correct way to hook up the speakers. plz help

I don't know, but if your amp has a high-pass or low-pass filter, you might want to mess around with turning those off.

maybe they are out of phase. meaning you may have them wired with wrong polarity.

Yep, I agree w/ the phase assumption. Is there or isn't there an amp in this system. If not, and you are using the factory radio to drive these components, that may be an issue as well.
