What is the deal with the dealership stickers on the back of our cars?

As soon as I get my car home for the first time, I proceeded to peel off the dealer logo off the back of my ride. I consider this my first "mod". I believe if they aren't going to pay me for advertising, they aren't going to use my car for a billboard.

Anyways, the whole purpose of this rant is that when I left my car friday for the install of my body kit and exhaust, I get it back with another damn dealer sticker on the back. WTF? Did they think someone forgot to put one on there when I took delivery? Is there some kind of clause in my contract in the fine print that says I have to roll with one of their bright-ass white stickers on my black car? Luckily, it is a cheap vinyl sticker that is easily removed, but what a bunch of crap.

Oh, and I don't know what they did with my antennae ball I had on it. That is a phone call to the dealer in itself

Ok, I'm done with my rant. Anyone else sick of these freakin stickers?

Hmm... I would be pissed off too. I'm sure they did figure that they had forgotten to put the sticker on in the first place. But even so, the car has already been handed over to you and they are not supposed to do anything to it unless you know about it. I would raise hell... just because of that. Added to your missing antenna ball... well you may get a few freebies.

Maybe you should put a post it note in the area where the vinyl goes every time you take your car in... saying stick it and die...

My dealer does not put stickers on our cars... only their cheap ass plate holders. Since my plates have arrived, I have removed those too. I did opt to advertise for them for 3 months... a vinyl sticker on the hatch window... but I'm gonna get 200 bucks for it.

I didn't get any stickers... I would have killed them... but they did stick me with a license plate frame. Its not too bad, and easilly changed. I don't think dealers should be allowed to put vinyl on your brand new car without your permission. I don't care what anyone says, you bought the car there, thats all you had to do... there should be no reason for you to have to "advertise" for the dealer. And who honestly pays attention to those anyways?

On my current car (I cannot wait for a tC), they actually put rivets on their dealer badge! God help them if I get my new tC with some rivets imbedded in it!

But I would say this... if you do bring it back to them for any reason, and they put yet another sticker on it. Tell them right then-and-there that you want that sticker off. I'm sure they would do it in a heart beat.

It's only a sticker... its a way of advertising.. so sue them if you hate a sticker that much.

The dealer I use puts zero stickers on the car. Sweet.

When I ordered my car, I had asked my salesman to make sure a sticker wasn't put on it...and then asked him again one week before the car came in. Then, of course, I get there to pick my car up and find a sticker on it, as well as the cheap plate frames.

The frames came off within a week, but I made them take the sticker off before I left the lot. I see the "haley" stickers on about 75% of the Toyota vehicles around my area. You'd think I'd stop noticing them because I see them all the time, but they're big silver stickers and they're pretty hard to miss.

Yes, it's just a sticker...and it should be removable...but if you ask for it to be kept off your car, or remove it yourself...it shouldn't be on there. Plain and simple.

I support Imasaf's suggestion though..and I might just use it myself when I take it in for my 5K maintenance.

I only got the cheap license plate holders with the dealer name on em. I don't care enough as of yet to change them, I don't even notice it. Before I took delivery I also made sure that my dealer doesn't stick on those stupid dealer stickers, so if anyone has their tC on order, make sure your dealer knows that you don't wanna advertise their name all over town with some cheap a$$ vinyl.

my demos have had a web address decal on the back window, but they come off when the car sells. florin road up here was notorious for doing that when the xA and xB first hit. the only stickers i will put on my dealership's demo tC is one from this site. cause i like using my position here to promote this place. damn the man.

Since we have this thread... I'm gonna add to it my gripes. I have no issues with the wonderful sales manager I worked with on purchasing my tC. He's honest and very pleasant to work with.

The service/parts department on the other hand sucks big time. I'm complaining (again) about the holes they drilled on my front bumper... this was after I specifically asked them not to do so... on top of that...the detailer guy who did it really f*cked up the job... to the point where they couldn't even get a specialist to plug up the holes. The second issue I have with their service/parts department is that they mark up everything. Its ridiculous... for those of you who have not read about my TRD rear sway bar post... well they wanted $330 for the part and installation cause it will take them supposedly 2 hours to do.

I figured I would retype it here cause this thread will serve very useful for the dealers we have on this site... as data to help them improve their own customer service.

yeah i'm checking around for other dealers.. seems toyota/scion lags behind even honda for workmanship! hope scion is reading this..

but imasaf.. if they drilled and you asked them not to.. they owe you a new bumper cover! plain and simple! i mean what's with these people? no, means no.. sheesh.. dealer should actually try listening to the customer for once..

and i think you should find another dealer.. well after you get them to replace your bumper cover..

glad i dont have issues with the service dept here. a silver tC from another dealership pulled into my service drive, and i heard from the girl driving it that the service dept where she bought it sucked so bad that all her family comes to ours, no matter where they buy their car. ranked 4th in the country, thankfully my boys get it done.
makes you feel better, i asked for no holes in the front too. didnt work out very well. but the guys that do the front plate mounting arent usually reading paperwork, the just know they have to PDI the car as usual. i have taken to taping a sign on the front bumper for my customers who dont want a front plate. that seems to work. but youre right, you shouldnt have to go to that extreme.

Well whats done is done... anyways... since I do live in Cali... I figure I would have to put the front plates on sometime... so I just said f*ck it...

On the other hand... they promised me some plate holders from scion... the ones with what move you on them.... supposedly they are on back order. I'll wait. The guy I worked with Rich is very good and very nice. Its just the service guys that I'm kinda upset with... but then I feel bad for them cause I am a fussy customer too... hahaha

sorry to bust up the conversation that is going on here, but I have to add some of my issues in here too. The most recent gripe with a dealer has been that after signing paperwork on a specific car four weeks ago, my dealer called me yesterday to inform me that my car had finally arrived, but that it had a different VIN. WTF?!! I had already gone through sending five different VINs to my insurance guy (who wants to kill me now) and the check for the financing had the other VIN on it, so I couldn't give them the check for financing when I picked the car up. Now I have to go to the bank again and waste more of my time getting a new check made out with the correct VIN on it. All the while Ivan is hitting my city...and I'm expected to show up with a check at the dealership tonight...I don't think it's gonna happen. The best part is that I forgot to ask why the VIN had changed...definitely the first thing I ask as soon as I see them again. Anyway, thanks for the venting post!
