I actually looked into doing that as well. The 3M cover is more like an adhesive hardcoat, to protect your paint. With that said, I've been told that it is actually very very difficult to install, with variance depending on the car, because you've got about 1 chance to do it right for an entire piece. The tC version comes in 2 pieces I believe.

I am in my final stages of getting my TC and I was wondering if anyone had heard of a clear bra its made by 3m and looks easy to install. The dealer wants like a grand to do it, I think I can handle it but was wondering if anyone had any feeb back on it. I do a ton of highway drivng and paint chips add up fast

So have you seen it in person? if so is it that so noticable? what else would you reccommend?
Save the grand and get a new paint job when you feel your sick of your old one lol.
Call a tint shop they can do it for about $500 with a 7 piece deal
