I run mine there as well, if you search, I will posting some pics of my complete install soon. There is no problem running it there, i actually have new speaker wire run there too, no noise or anything. I used the grommet on the drivers side that you can see if you lay on your back and look next to the steering column. I cut a small hole and ran it there.

Ok, i would suggest two batteries minimum if you are running 0 guage in which case I wouldn't think you would need to run 0 guage through the firewall as the batteries would have to be relocated to the hatch.

Edit: To clarify, If you upgrade to need 0-AWG you will need a couple of optimas to avoid draining.

If you have it turned down its obvious it won't drain as much power. Im running 600 rms to a sub, and 40 rms to 4 speakers off of 4 guage and I don't have any problems. If you are driving your alternator should have no problem keeping the battery charged, but don't be surprised (if you run decent volume a lot) that you will need a new alternator in a year or two. Alternators don't like working overtime to keep a battery charged.
