Well before my car met it's demise I occasionally had a problem shifting in a few gears. It's a tad on the rough side, IMO...few rough tries in reverse, once I had the problem you had, thought I was in 1st and Was in third but I shoved it over. It might need to get loosened up some more, but I never got past 620 miles myself

Ya you start out in 3rd....go to 2nd....pop it to 5th...and then end in 4th. Who needs 1st gear???
