Air Conditioner... is it cold?

Ok... I've heard people talk about not having cold A/Cs because Scion had put too little refridgerant into the car. Supposedly this only happened to the first batch or two of the tCs.

I was unable to check whether the A/C in the tC was cold enough or not cause we've had a pretty mild summer until yesterday. It was blazing hot (for me... that would start at the low 80s. ok... i'm a heat weakling
)! But anyways... I rolled down all the windows and opened the sun roof to let all the hot air out of the car... then I turned on the A/C and let that run for a while when I was driving. After a few minutes, I rolled up the windows and closed the sun roof and let the A/C blast. I let that go for a while and well it was still very hot in the car... the A/C didn't really feel cold. I don't know if its just me or if it is supposed to be like that. Have you guys experienced the same thing??? How long did it take for your cars to cool off??

I have no idea what you guys are referring to -- it's been 90-97 just about every day since I got my tC, and the A/C in mine is frigid. I love it.
I agree, my AC has worked beautifully since I got it the car. Just having the AC on the first level is already pretty cold.
Frigid isn't a word I would associate with the AC in my tC.
We've had quite a few 100+ degree days here since I got my tC & The A/C does a great job! In fact, sometimes it gets too cold & I have to turn it down

I'm jealous Eric... u sure someone didn't hook u up with extra refridgerant??
Anyways... i checked the weather channel for official temps and it was actually in the mid-high 90s yesterday. That could be why the AC didn't feel cold... who knows...

Likewise on that second part. I've rarely set it past the third blower setting (I think there are seven), even after running 4 miles in 95-degree heat.
Yesterday was hot like hell in So.Cal. I can't believe you went outside in the heat!
One day, I had the ac on and i thought it was pretty cold.....the other day i used it and it really didn't seem to get that cold. Kinda weird.
today was pretty hot out, I'd say mid 80's, (gotta love that NY weather), I turned the A/C on the first fan setting, and it cooled off within like, 5 min. And my car was sitting in the sun for a few hours. Needless to say, I'm happy with the ac on the tc.

..........god, i'm corny.
One thing I have noticed about my tC is that the AC gets colder quicker if you have the recirulation button pushed. If you're constantly drawing air from the outside it's harder to cool down quickly. Mine seems to take a minute to cool off, but once it does it works great!
Yeah my A/C could be ALOT better.... 20 min in itll be cool
It takes a long while for the a/c in my tC to start spewing out cold (not just cool) air, much less to cool down a car. Today, in 90 degree weather, it was at least 10 mins before the air got cold, and I had been driving around town with the windows down for at least 15 mins before turning on the a/c.

The rental cavalier I was driving shot out cold air in minutes after sitting in a lot all day, in similar weather. My old corolla was quick to cool as well.

Right now, I've resorted to closing off the passenger side air vents in hopes of diverting more cool air to the driver vents.

Oh well, that's the only real complaint with my car and the good thing is that most of the year I don't need a/c

But since it seems I'm not the only one with weak a/c, I'll probably get it checked out at my next oil change.

I've done the same, closing the passenger side vents. It does take a bit of time, but I'm usually at my destination (5-10 mile trips) before the A/C really has a chance to work.

...exactly
I'm sure I'll find out more about on the trip to Scion Nights on Friday.

Mine takes awhile to cool off, too. I'd say around 10 to 15 min.

I blame it on my car being black.

late
Mine is ice cold in under 5 minutes.
Ice cold in under 5-mins. as well. It has really be put to the test these past few days here in CA. 101, 103, 103, 102 for the past 4 days.
