5-speed, stock exaust / airbox, from inside

I am planning to try something with my intake tonight, so I made a "stock" video on the way to work.

Those who say that tC does not sound sweet stock need to drive one first

I put the vid up in 2 formats - MOV and WMV. Hopefully it would cover most of the audience.

Let me know what you think.

Edit:

Added a second video with the "custom" short ram intake. Now you can compare stock airbox with trd drop-in filter and my "custom" intake.

More details on the "custom" intake here:

purrrr...
What exactly did you do with your intake? How about some pics of your work?

BTW, that movie was great. Now we just need a movie like that with the TRD exhaust so we can hear what it really sounds like while you drive. Reving it up for 10 seconds sounds cool and all, but when it really comes down to it I want to know what it sounds like going down the road too.

First vid is stock (with TRD drop-in filter), second is with this intake mod:

Thanks Zoltiz. Now that I hear that, I'm thinking that is the sound I want. The TRD muffler is a little ricey and that is the last thing I want people to think when they see/hear my car.
I edited the original post to include the description of the second vid.
Could you tell any difference between the stock filter and the TRD filter?

Seems like TRD filter is a tad louder. Actually I have no idea - I never drove with the stock filter. Swap mine out a the dealer parking lot when I was picking up the tC.

Marty - did you get a chance to compare stock vs. TRD drop in sound?

I swapped out my TRD filter one or two days after I got the car, so I didn't have loads of time to compare either. That having been said, I think the TRD filter is a tiny bit louder than stock, but not much at all.
Sounds nice. Too bad the monkey in the silver SUV kept slowing you down.

Hehe. Thanks. Luckily nobody was in front of me on the run with the intake

I like the sqeal of the tires there at the end....is it really that easy to chirp in second? I guess I need to go and test drive another tc...

The squeal at the very end of the first vid was just lack of traction on a turn in the office parking lot

But chirping in second is very easy. I think I chirped third couple of times, but I guess it was due to my 5-speed newbiness...

It's not too hard to chirp 2nd. I was suprised the first time I did it...looked around like "was that me?" Never got on it hard enough to chirp third but I"m sure it's possible if you really wanted to.

I think the tC sounds pretty good with the stock exhaust...quiet on normal driving, throaty growl when you wind her out. I would like to hear the difference with a CAI though, supposed to be even deeper sound. I test drove a TRD exhaust tC and it was just too ricey. Maybe I'm just too old...grew out of the bumpin stereo and loud exhaust phase about 10 years ago. I like my tC stealthy
all you see is a blur and a second later you hear the sonic boom.
