I get a pretty pronounced vibration in the dash and steering column when I am not under full boost. It seems as if the boost starts around 3k and if I do not accelerate thru the range and just coast along the vibration is pronounced. If I boost thru the gear it silences until I let up. I have not found the cause yet but it seems to be from the action of the bpv. (only when rerouting the excessive boost back to the intake)

I have a 2005 tC purchased when they were 1st available in SoCal in July 2004. And there are no rattles that I have hard in over a year. When I first got the car for a few months there was a popping noise in the sunroof area whenever I went over driveways with a gradient at and angle (basically when there is chassis twist) but it is gone and hasn't come back

I have an 06' and my back hatch does rattle a little bit but not enough to even pay any attention to - a lot better than my Jeep Wrangler.

I have an 06 and i hear something in the hatch, not really sure what it is and it doesnt bother me enough to go searching around in the freezing cold. The radio pretty much takes care of it. I dont think its that noticable, no one has ever asked me what the rattle noise is in the hatch.

I've had my 06 tC for all of three days, and I have heard a rattle from the hatch. It seems to only rattle on fairly rough roads, and come from the driver side. I'll follow up after taking it in to the dealer. I'm not in a big rush, though.

I have an 06 TC. I've had it for a little over 4 months now. For the first two months i had no rattles but then they appeared. My hatch started rattling and just a few weeks ago my roof started rattling a little bit. They only rattle when i go over bumps at a decent speed. If im on a smooth road then they dont rattle. Thats the only two problems i have with rattles. But almost every car has some type of rattle when they go over a bumpy road. O well, it doesnt bother me. Pz.

I drove my 06 off the lot 12/26 and found the hatch rattle over my first bump - didn't hear it in the test drive. Took it to the dealer for the run around. Waited 3 weeks for the part on the 3rd visit. It was fixed for 2 days and now it's back with vengence. I am going to take advice from 2 other forums where they suggest the same thing - place furniture or foam pads on parts of the hatch and that provides a fix. 2nd rattle is a dash rattle that begins 10 minutes into the ride, located around the instruments - It has gotten louder so I'm thinking there is something working it's way loose. I can live with that but I'll wait until it gets real bad and then I'm going to schedule a ride with a dealer tech. I would rather stick needles in my eyes than go back to the dealership. I love the car and if I can get those two things fixed I'll will be 100% satisfied. I'm easy to get along with but there's certain noises that aren't exceptable even on a new car. I've never driven an expensive car so I'm not being picky! I'm opening a case up with Scion too - please call into the number listed on the Scion Company web page. More cases opened - the chance of having it researched is better.

Hey guys/gals

I just got a 2006 I LOVE my car, these aren't complaints just observations. My dealer is fixing everything, so please don't take it the wrong way:

1. rattle from the sunroof when its open. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it sounds loud and metallic. I had to pull over tonight after work to make sure it wasn't falling off.

2. Vibration from the steering column causing the gauges to rattle. This happens on a rough grade road at about 40-55 miles per hour. I'm thinking that the tires are not balanced properly or maybe mis-alignment or the quality of the stock Potenzas. This is just speculation though.

3. Occasional rattle from the rear side of the passenger door, this also happens on rough grade roads.

4. Either I'm going crazy or I'm hearing something move underneath the car as I shift then accelerate. The first thing I thought was that there was something underneath the seat rolling from the front to the rear and back. Nothing under either seat though.

Sometimes, it all happens at the same time.

Please don't get me wrong I have researched these issues on this form and other forums, the car is a fantastic ride. I do NOT regret my purchase what-so-ever. Everyone I know loves its looks, ride quality, interior quality...I could go one and on. All I want to do is drive it, mod it, stare at it, drive my girl around. Livin the dream, life is good.

I've had great experiences with my dealership and am confident that these issues will be resolved.

This is a worrisome topic. A few rattles now probably mean a lot more rattles a few years down the road. And we shouldn't have to be putting things on to solve the problem while the car is still under warranty.

No rattles here, but Dr. Brown's only a month old. I had my previous car for 11 years. It had a couple of rattles late in life that were fixed as soon as I took it to the mechanic. And that was just a little old Ford Aspire. (A terrific car. My niece is driving it now.)

If Ford can do that, I expect Scion/Toyota to do it too.

Christine

P.S. Yes, Dr. Brown is its name!

Hello, waited a while to reply, had to be sure the dealership solved the interior problems I was having.

1. rattle from the sunroof when its open.
I believe the problem is solved, they mentioned tightening down some screws, etc. I havent heard any rattle since the dearlership visit.

2. Vibration from the steering column
They said it was the components inside the steering wheel rattled from resonance created on "Extrememly rough surfaces" according to the work order. In any case, this was fixed for about a week, and now its back.

3. Occasional rattle from the rear side of the passenger door
"Could not reproduce" Its still there.

4. There was (still is) a loud "Clunking" sound from the hatch over bumps like its opening and closing. They could not reproduce it and put a ton of grease on the rubber stoppers to prevent "squeaking" Squeaking? wtf? I can easily reproduce it. And tried to get someone to ride with me, but I have to make an appointment for that.

5. there was also some irritating buzzing coming from the headliner, it sounded like it was right by my left ear, damn that was loud and annoying, they say they fixed it with some felt tape. Havent heard it since the fix, thankfully.

6. The headliner around the sunroof is now popping out. Had to pop most of it back into place after a drive this afternoon.

7. The entire panel surrounding the seatbelt housing including the panel from the seatbelt housing reaching all the way to the glass hatch randomly and completely popped out this evening. Popped it back into place, but what the hell?

I love the car, but now I'm a little pissed. I bought it new, about 1000 miles on it currently. I've never owned a car with this many interior problems, especially a new toyota with only 1000 miles on it.

Back to the dealer ship this week. Maybe some people don't care about this kind of stuff, but it bothers the hell out of me.

^^^ Wow dude yours must have been made by the guy itchin to go to lunch or something...

I have the roof rattle, I got rid of the hatch rattle... My only complaint is the slow/rough start-up. I like a click/start not a turn key/shimmy slow rev start... grrr
