Scion tC Information » How To: Install TRD Springs
Before:

Starting at the front end...
Pop the hood, remove the wipers and pop the clips that hold the plastic tray in place. This is the easiest way to access the top
three strut tower bolts. But dont remove them yet.
Lift the front off the ground, support it by jackstands so the suspension fully extends down. Remove wheels. This is what your
stock front suspension looks like :

Using a 12mm socket, remove the bolt that holds the brake line on the strut. The purple wire also needs to be free of the strut.
Using a 22mm socket, and a breaker bar, loosen the nuts at the bottom of the strut and remove them. Take care to tie off the hub
so it doesnt drop down too far. The result can be a seperation of your axle from the CV joint. That would be bad.

Move to the top of the car. Hopefully you can still reach the top of the struts. Loosen the top three nuts using a 14mm socket
or wrench.

Have someone holding the strut from below so it doesnt just drop out. Once the nuts are removed, slide the strut down and forward,
dropping the bottom through the gap in the control arm, just like my brother is doing here.

Repeat on the other side, and using a spring compressor, take the old springs off and replace with the new ones. if you dont have
access to one, take your struts and new springs into a midas or someplace like that, and they can press the old ones out and the new
ones in. Reverse the removal process, and here's your strut reinstalled.

Now the back, both easier and a bit tricky.
This is what your car looks like when the interior is removed to access the top of the rear shock towers.

And a close up of the top of said tower.

After removing all those body panels (remember, careful with the clips that hold it all together, they are plastic.), lift the car
and support with jackstands so the rear suspension drops down. Here is your stock suspension in the rear.

Loosen and remove the 19mm bolt at the bottom of the shock. DO NOT try to loosen it from the nut side, the nut has little ridges
that help lock it into place. Loosen from the bolt head side, and back it all the way out. Also, remove the nut from the control
arm and seperate it from the sway bar. Climb inside your “trunk” and loosen the top three nuts from the shock tower. Pop off the
plastic dust cap on top of the shock for clearance.
Have the same guy who held the front strut for you push down on the wheel hub. This will extend the suspension down far enough to
pop the shock out of its seat. Here is your stock rear shock, and the interior of the wheel well when it's removed.

Here's the tricky part. One more trip to midas and youre pretty much done. Or, if you are doing it yourself, skip the midas part
and get out the spring compressor again. Easy enough to remove, just make sure the 3 bolts in front are lined up properly with the
bottom so it will slip back in to the right place when you reinstall. Tell the guy at the shop to pay attention so it looks the
same when the new spring is on.
Now, slip the shock tower back in the bottom bracket and it should slide right into place. Reverse the procedure, making sure it
all lines up before you start tightening things down. Here is your new shock installed.

And here is the finsished product, before any miles or settling.
