Default heater but no heat???

ok so i turn on my car let it run an turn on the heater an it only blows out cold?? if i hit the gas then heat comes out... but no matter how much i warm up the car or drive it the only time heat comes out is when i press on the gas. can anyone help me please sucks to have to sit there pressing gas while im waiting at a red light because im cold, an im just wasting gas. it Ive been dealing with it but with gas on the rise its time for some answers and a fix.

you think thats all it is?? hope its that easy just change it out would be a big relief. but also a kick in the a** cause i should of done it earlier rather then putting up with it, is there anyway to find out if it is that other wise its worth a shot.

not really.
check if you have enough coolant, if you do, you're looking at either taking it apart or just switching it out.

thermostat is blown like foques said. it just happened to to me dude. so change it and youl get it back to normal its a $15 REPAIR if you do it your self.

There maybe an air pocket in the cooling system. The bleeder is next and facing the car battery, is a white butterfly thing you see attach to the radiator. Turn on your car, open the bleeder and pour coolant in the rdiator, when you start to see constant liquid to come out close the bleeder, close the radiator cap and you're done. If that doesn't work then switch the thermostat.

^^ yeah flush your readiator. make sure to get the toyota coolant( pink) its $20 and get two gallon. get a radiator flush and clean your radiator.

hey guys here is an update finally had enough time to get to this changed the thermostat. one it had looked perfect still the topped of the radiator an drove it an let it sit refilled an still nothing blow freezing air. any more ideas i really need this fixed??
