Hey I have a 2007 Scion TC. I absolutely love the car but regret buying auto, I kinda wish I got manual and I've already put some money into customizing it so selling for a manual is not an option right now, also I live in Chicago so winters/city traffic automatic is nice.
The problem is when I hit the gas hard sometimes the RPM's shoot to red and I feel the sexy kick of power that I love and need to pass a car and then sometimes when I hit the gas all the way the RPM's don't go all the way to red and it doesn't give me that boost of power I was expecting. What is going on, if I understood how the auto shifts it would help me. Any solutions? Is there any way I could mess with the throttle/etc. any mods to make it shift quicker/more grunt in low gears? I looked for a shift kit but do not see any made for scion tc. Right now I have a full catback exhaust. The power addition it gave me is pretty minimal to be honest but I love the sound it was worth every penny and definitely does let the engine breathe a little better. Next upgrades on my list are intake/TRD springs. Wondering if there is any specific mod to give me more low gear quicker shifts/torque for when I am trying to pass someone on the highway. I see nitrous as an option but don't wanna mess with that. |

Your automatic transmission is all electronically controlled. I doubt there's anything you can do to change that. Aside from shifting L -> 2 -> D like an idiot.
Just sell the car and buy a standard. No Intake/Header/Exhaust mods are going to net you any noticable power gain or throttle response. |

Can't even do that on the tC 2's. They just have D and then you can push it over to the + or - shifter mode if you want. My RS has the paddle shifters on the wheel. I never use either one. For my needs the automatic performs well enough but true enough there's almost nothing that can be done about the performance of the automatic short of pulling the whole engine / tranny and putting an aftermarket racing engine in there.

I'm with candle. Can't really do anything with the transmission. I don't think you want to bark up that tree. (Also I'd say you could not pass anyone during city driving and solve your problem there
; I don't even bother driving aggressive in city driving. Kills my mileage. On the highway, thats another story! )

Throttle controller, because that's the only electronic you can modify to adjust the sensitivity of the throttle body. Or just spend the cash on a swap, e351/350, ecu, etc...if your going to do the swap, get the e350 from the Camry with the 2AZFE as the final drive is taller and you will get great gas millage over the tC final drive. It's all gear ratios and crap you don't want to get into

Eh, just listing some options. If I can find a e350 from the Camry I'm pulling the final drive and installing the lsd for when I go turbo. Yeah if I had an auto I'd just sell it and get a manual, but then again I already have 5 gears and a clutch...lol. And if you really want absurd, get the 3SGE from the Japan Lexus IS200 from 2000, we share the same chassis.
